Hanes Sock Drive 2011 - 3rd Annual Sock Drive

You know Hanes has my heart. They not only keep the world comfortable, they have a heart. I have loved spending this year getting to know Hanes even better as part of the Hanes Comfort Crew. Hanes does good I was unaware of prior to this year. Let me share.

Welcome to the Hanes Sock Drive 2011. You can participate EASILY. Simply click "Donate" on the Hanes Facebook Page and Hanes will donate a pair of Socks up to 250,000 pair. Let's do this!

This is the 3rd Annual Holiday Sock Drive. It is a known fact that the homeless and even those in need have great need of Socks. Something as simple as a new, warm pair of socks. You can get involved.

Simply Visit the Hanes Facebook Page and Hanes will Donate a Real Pair of Socks to the Salvation Army, up to 250,000 pairs of Socks. :)

Check out this Salvation Army slide show to see the good being done. I am so excited. Soon, I will share my personal and local participation. Right now, I am on the way to a meeting to complete getting this into place. It is a wonderful feeling to give back. Please consider joining this simple and effective movement.

At this point I am in tears because I can help. I can do something more and share it with you. Hanes has taught me more about others. Hanes to me is more than comfort, more than cool clothes and more than a trip to Disney. Hanes is Universal Comfort and Caring.

Will you join us? Thank you Hanes.

Warmly, Carolina Mama

Veggie Tales: The Little Drummer Boy and O, Holy Night

Veggie Tales keeps my boys happy and laughing!  They still love Larry Boy and Bob and the French Peas keep us in the floor.  This Twins Mama is thrilled my boys still love Veggie Tales because you know what, we love them, too.  So it's truly a family affair.

Veggie Tales has just released the most awesome Holiday DVD for Chirstmastime!

The Little Drummer Boy!

"In this Veggie-version of a Holiday classic, Junior Asparagus stars as The Little Drummer Boy,
a lonely child who finds true meaning of Christmas when he stumbles upon the birth of the baby Jesus.
A story of generosity, hope, and love.  This timeless tale will warm the hearts of children
and adults everywhere!"

We love Veggie Tales for their inspirational life lessons for kids in a humorous story.   We actually did a little early Christmas shopping this weekend because LifeWay Christian Bookstores had an awesome sale on Christmas items.  The boys checked out with me so they were really amused when I surprised them with this DVD "The Little Drummer Boy" to kick off the Christmas season.

We loved it!  The story was simple, moving and inspiring all at once.  The boys loved it!  Said it was Awesome!

We also are loving the CD "O, Holy Night!"  Check out the amazing artists on this Holiday CD by Veggie Tales.

DPAC: Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular

The Radio City Rockettes are in North Carolina at the Durham Performing Arts Center.  It is truly a Christmas Spectacular.  This was my first time seeing the Radio City Rockettes thanks to my sweet friend and colleague, Jen inviting us.

In fact, it was a girls night for us and all four of us had not seen the Rockettes.  We were spoiled!
And we LOVED our Orchestra Seats.

Jen was there with her family - it was so great to see them again!  It was their first Rockettes Show, too!  See how excited we all are! :) Her girls were thrilled as they both take Tap and Clogging so they can really relate to all those high kicks.

The Toy Soldiers were impressive and perfection.

Jen and I had fine memories of our New York City trip to BlogHer last year together.  This tour makes you feel like you are on the New York Sightseeing tour in real life.  The costumes were gorgeous.

The Christmas Spectacular is outstanding and I agree with this description 100%:

"Fill your heart with Christmas as the world-famous Radio City Rockettes® bring their legendary eye-high kicks and a cast and crew of over 100 to Durham in America’s #1 Holiday Show, the RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR®. Adults will love the precision of the Rockettes in numbers such as Parade of the Wooden Soldiers and Christmas in New York. Children will love Multiplying Santas and the elves in Santa’s Workshop. Everyone will be inspired by the stunning reenactment of the very first Christmas in The Living Nativity. Create memories that last a lifetime at the RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR®, thrilling families for over 75 years! The Spectacular is perfect for EVERYONE!"

The Nativity Scene complete with Live Camels was touching!  This truly kicked off the Christmas Season for us.  It was wonderful to hear the Christmas Story from Luke 2.

We enjoyed great treats while on the Red Carpet.  We had the gourmet Popcorn, Starbucks, Gelato, Candied Nuts, Pretzel.  Get ready for some fun options.  And the Candy Girl came around.

Jen and I were ecstatic.  Here we are before the show - just before they pulled the red curtain.

DPAC is such a beautiful and intimate performing arts center, we adore it.

Have you seen the Radio City Rockettes?  Are you going?  Enjoy! And let Christmas Begin!

Penn State Fires Paterno and Spanier - As It Should Be

Rape is rape.  And Penn State had eye witnesses (yes, plural) to Sick Sandusky raping young boys as young as 8 years old. And they NEVER took it off campus to the police.  In 1998, Sandusky even admitted it to one of the Moms of the boys and said he (Sandusky himself) wished he were dead.  And the university ignored that taped confession....  sick on top of sick.

SICKdusky

Penn State Board of Trustees did the decent thing and FIRED Coach Paterno and President Spanier tonight.  Thank you.

The AP has more.  Beware if you read the Grand Jury Report, it tells you ALL the details.  This is rape, this is sodomy and this is Penn State Football.  As it was said, Paterno and Spanier chose Football over innocent Children.

Mike McQueary did the right thing to report the horrific sodomy he witnessed of Sandusky sodomizing an 8 year old boy.... however, how on earth could Mike work for these people knowing they didn't even investigate enough to get the name of the child.... much less report the rapist.  Mike caved into getting hired as an Assistant Coach.

As a NewYork Times commentor said, "God Bless the Penn State Board of Trustees. They have a conscience."

Just one question before we go, how on earth was Sandusky allowed to have young boys over to his house for sleep overs?  ... Michael Jackson... just saying.  How was he allowed to hold hands with the boys walking out of the Sports complex on campus after showering with these boys and NO ONE did a thing...?  As of this posting, another Victim, Victim #9 has stepped forward to testify against Sickdusky. One that he met through the Second Mile program to help "at risk" children.

Warmly, Carolina Mama

*Bare with me writing about such an awful topic. I am sick of hearing this called a mere "sex scandal" they need to call it what it is.  And yes, I am a mother of young boys. We are praying for these families.

Campbell University Student Surrenders - Buies Creek, NC

Campbell University student surrenders after causing a campus-wide Lock Down as he was armed within the home he rented there in Buies Creek, North Carolina.  Apparently he had been arrested for stealing fire arms from a gun shop where he worked.  And when the authorities came to serve him he caused the stand off.

Whew.  We know many who attend Campbell University and were praying hard for these young people. Pray for this fellow.  And for all the students who were on campus during this frightening time.  I was thankful for Facebook and hearing that those were safe.

Jared Knight, Campbell University lockdown

More news on this breaking news on WRAL.com.  Thankful everyone is okay and that the authorities were able to get him to surrender.

Warmly,
CarolinaMama
