Reviewing Robin McGraw's "What's Age Got To Do With It? 55"

When the FedEx driver left our house Friday afternoon, I ripped into the box like a child on Christmas morning. I was eager to have my hands on Robin McGraw's
What's Age Got To Do With It? 55..
Living your healthiest and happiest life

The description seemed too good to be true - it's a book for you and all your girlfriends. I do not know if it was 'an easy read ,' more like it was a great read. It is so well done that I couldn't stop reading.

Basically, if you are female, this book is for you. Seriously, woman of all ages can benefit from Robin McGraw's research and experience as she discusses what does age really have to do with the number of birthdays we have celebrated.

Robin McGraw uses the grief of losing her mother too young in life to turn tragedy into triumph in her own life and now shares her own secrets, actually, routines, with women everywhere.

Fortunately, for me, this book comes at a time in my life where I can truly appreciate the answers. Many women/"girls" are looking for answers found in this book; and from a lady who has a great perspective. She covers her story as God has her life with His grace. At the end of her day from her bubble bath Robin says: "I thank God for His love and and guidance." Isn't that beautiful. Robin reminds us to ask the God of Creation to bless our husband and children each day.

Robin warmly expresses her own exasperation and solution in doing her own extensive research regarding female issues. She includes so many basics like Fitness, Nutrition, Skin Care, Hair Care, MakeUp and Fashion. She gives us a glimpse into her family life and shows her husband, Dr. Phil's take on supporting her when he found it helpful to ask Robin:

"Are you having a 'hormonal moment' or did I do something wrong?" Together they show how to keep your sense of humor throughout your journey weather it be menopause or going for a round of tennis.

Finally, my favorite was her chapter "What's Faith Got to Do with It?" It is near and dear to my heart to see someone with the international fame and notoriety, living Hollywood and yet she openly shares her faith in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ completing the book with the Spiritual side of taking care of ourselves.

As Robin shares her goals, I join in her efforts: "I am going to continue taking care of myself until I get there (referring to her eighties!). I know that there is nothing selfish about deciding to become an active manager and nurturer of what God has given me."

What a blessing and inspiration as you seek real answers about women's situations for today by a lady who embraces every stage of her life. Thanks you Robin!

P.S. Coming soon May 2009! The Actionable companion book and journal that is highly practical "Ask Robin" will be available.

Warmly,

Wow. I just did my review and didn't see what you saw. My review wasn't flattering. The book didn't reach me, it felt too self-indulgent and too bragadocious. Mine will post on 2/14 probably. I like your positive spin, though, I need a little more of that!
