Last of 2007

As I consider my last post of this year, I think about all this year has offered to our family. It has been an awesome year for which we are thankful. Since I have been journaling since I was a little girl, it is no surprise that I want to express myself and get it all down as each season moves on.

I always feel a rush of emotion for the year past and the year coming all in one fell swoop. In my heart, I know that "Our God whom we serve, is able and He will." Daniel 3:7 We look for His providence in our lives again this year as we pioneer yet another year on the family journey.

We celebrated health and happiness and pray for it to continue. And as we eagerly enter a New Year, this is our desire is to be "Joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer." Romans 12:12

God bless and keep you and yours into 2008!

Much Needed Rain in Carolina

We're all grateful to have ended our year with close to 3 inches of rain!! It was a wonderful day of steady rain yesterday and we and the earth drank it right up. Today the sun is out and it is a Carolina blue sky. A glorious last day of the year as we contemplate what the New Year holds.

And we will count these 3 inches for 2007! :)

Most everyone noticed my picture uploads decrease in the past couple of months. Let's just say with a camera that got broken on a football field with two boys and their mom, I am happy to have my new camera. Increase the eye candy. Mainly, just happy to resume documenting our days together. I really appreciate my camera all the more now. It is true, absence makes the heart grow fonder. And I have the family all ready to give me a smile after all that time off. ;)

Here's the latest manuel I should be reading.... FUJIFILM Global FinePix S5700. What's your favorite camera and why?

Stay tuned for my New Year blog thoughts on Monday starting tomorrow as a little bonus.

Tender Colorado Carolina Christmas

A few of the fun things of the day, the boys loved their LEGO CITY sets.
Airplane's in the stockings, isn't it funny the way Santa gets all the credit! ;)
And the biggest fun was surprising 'all my men' with SNOWBOARDER the Rasta game!!!
Here in Carolina Country that is saying something for Mountain Man.  OK, it's actually
saying Southern Girl turned Carolina Mama really tried because Mountain Man says it is
nothing like the powder in his native Colorado.  I know he is right, I know it in my heart.
I know it in my soul because I love that powder that only Colorado produce.  Even if I am
a Skiier and am Southern proud of it.

Let me tell you there is nothing like watching the Tigers and Mountain Man on that
Snowboard right in our living room when we are supposed to reach 65 degrees today.
And did I tell you the little Cherubs got Daddy two gallons of Snow for Christmas!
Priceless!

Amy Grant was right, "I know there's more snow up in Colorado than my roof ever will see,
but a tender 'Carolina' Christmas is the only Christmas for me!"  And with the 0 temps in
the Rockies this past week, we're not missing it - too much. ;)

Christmas Sleet in the Triangle

Can I just report that we have seen just a smidge of sleet mixed with rain here this morning! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I know we're just being hopeful when it's not likely a possibility. Otherwise, it's just fun. Tonight the children get to see Santa Clause. Stay tuned.... five days and counting

Anders Natural Soap Company, a North Carolina Wonder

It is the little things and Christmastime is always a great time for those new little discoveries. This year, I discovered right here at our own NC State Farmers Market - the awesome company, Anders Natural Soap Company, North Carolina and all things Scandinavian and yes, natural.

These are just yummy! Everyone I have gifted Anders Natural Soap with has already (ok, notice my girlfriends all open their presents Before Christmas!) called to squeel with delight at their little treasures. I am enjoying my own. Go check them out here: http://www.andersnaturalsoap.com. You'll have fun and so will others and they ship wonderfully!

Carolina Christmas Lights

The Carolina Christmas lights are a lighting up. Our children seem to find as many as we do. It's another of our traditions and we're really relishing this season and all that it offers. And the children have been in their Choir at church and it's as if the heavens opened up when they merged on center stage! They sang about "the greatest gift you'll ever find!"

And let me tell you, we've got Christmas weather! It is cold and crisp and we're all talking about that lovely steady rain we got last night. Precisely what this great state needed. Best!

Carolina Christmas

For us Christmas entails a trip to the Christmas tree farm or to cut our own. This year it was the Christmas tree - Jordan Lake Christmas Tree Farm! It was a delight. Everyone was so joyful. And we were rewarded for our quick decorating spirit - the weather was wonderful. Cold, looked like snow. And felt like Christmas! The children found the perfect tree and we got to watch the young buck zip it down in a few seconds flat. What a joy! After a nice romp in the Lil'Shaker, she was tied on and we were off. Oh, what fun it is to ride.... Remember your local tree farms and capture a few memories of your own this year. Yueltide.
