Summertime Rain Storm and Hot Chocolate

Did you run in the rain storms when you were a child?! Growing up in South Louisiana, thunderstorms were a constant in our lives. I have many a memory of running in the rain. Sommersalts, cartwheels in the horseshoe drive. We had two acres of land and a horseshoe drive with gravel. No matter how many truck loads of gravel my parents ordered to be laid down, there were some really good mud puddles when it rained.

I loved playing in the rain. My siblings and I did this with reckless abandon. As a college student, I would come home from school and continue the fun. Who says you can't come home!

Enjoy summer because it's going fast... and you know what's just around the corner.
Here are my guys having hot chocolate after a good rain storm here. A good rain storm sans the lightning that can steal the fun. We usually take advantage of these. Warm enough to play in it, no lightning, we're in.

And the Tigers say Mommy's hot chocolate is the best! Isn't that worth it's weight in - chocolate! ;)

Do you run in the rain!? Do your children enjoy this? Or are you going to try it soon? Make sure to capture the moments when you do.

I just did a post on this--sadly our rain lasted like 4 minutes and it was so hot still, steam rose from the street when steam hit it.
I bet my kids would have loved the coco idea--looked like fun!

We get what we can right! It really did get chilly so the hot chocolate moment was fun in the middle of summer. Thanks Lisa!

I love playing in the rain! My kids are only just now getting old enough where they don't mind it so much. Looks like your boys had fun!

Our storms here are usually chilly (even in the summer) or have lightning. We did get drenched last week going from the grocery store to the car. Unloading grocery bags with water collected in them? Not so fun.

Since we live in Seattle the whole winter is full of rain so it is a constant in our lives. All three kids play atleast twice outside no matter what its doing haha

My oldest loves to play in the rain. But here lately it has been accompanied by lightning. So he can't go out and play in it. Plus it has been so hot, even the rain hasn't cooled it off.

I'm so glad that you reminded me of this little joy... with my children older, we forget about doing these silly fun memory making things. Next time it rains (without the lightening), if we're where we can, I plan on us enjoying the re-make of younger childhood memories. Time flies so quickly...

We ran in the rain, and my kids LOVE running in the rain. Sadly all the rain yesterday went right under us and straight on past. It hasn't rained here in weeks.

I LOVE these pictures, and totally remember summer rain, and the joy it brought to play in it.
