Raleigh Komen 5K - Team Chestnut NC MomBloggers Sponsored by Hanes

Saturday was an amazing day!  It was our 2nd Annual Susan G. Komen Raleigh 5K held at the beautiful Meredith College, Raleigh, NC!  Hanes Comfort's line Hanes Pink sponsored us again - check out our cool Tees! :)  We love tradition!

Hanes Pink is committed to Breast Cancer Research! "From 2009 to 2011, Hanes has made cash and in-kind donations totaling $1,000,000 to breast cancer charities."  Hanes Pink is in partnership with the National Breast Cancer Research: Hanes is offering a special “pink collection” this fall, and making a donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. to fund mammograms and breast cancer research. We love our Hanes Pink Tees! Cutest Desigin!

We had local friends and bloggers like Jen of One Moms World - it was her 1st 5K too!  She did great!  Heather and Chele were here!  We love our Hanes Pink Tees! Cutest Desigin!

This year we were NC MomBloggers Team Chestnut! in honor of our friend, Chele  We were thrilled Chele and Heather came to Raleigh to do the race with us.  After such a great time with friends being here for the race, I was moved when Heather said that she is planning to walk the race with the team.  Sure we would be thrilled!  This is a big deal since Heather has been running the races! She wanted to walk with the Team.  And she did get to blaze a trail with One Moms World for her first 5k! They were awesome!

There were excellent local sponsors like Whole Foods and Wyndham Worldwide. Wyndham was so amazing to host our Honoree Chele and her husband so that she could come into town and participate in the race - and finish it!!!  Memories of a life time!  Thank you Wyndham for supporting women in the Komen Race!

One young Mom was pushing a double stroller with two children in it and she was running... right past us! :)

This sweet lady was sitting on her porch. She was a SURVIVOR since 1980!!

This was true!  Everybody can do SOMETHING!

This church had the group the Carolina Harmony Chorus!  They were great!

I got to walk the whole race with Chele our honoree!!!  And this was her first 5K!!!
She did awesome!!

Then my honey was waiting on me at the Finish Line! with our cute Tigers!  Be prepared they want to run a 5k with me next! :)

You know Southern Girl here does clean up nicely.... :)  here I am at a post 5K Starbucks run!
Awesome!

Did you run or walk the Komen 5k?  Have you done one in the past?
Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy the fun!

Warmly, Carolina Mama

Fit Friday Find: You Run or Walk a Road Race 5k Plus

Happy Fit Friday Find! Yes, you!  Really!  Run or Walk a Road Race of your choice - we recommend starting with a 5k!

One of the things I love to do is run a community road race!  Talk about spice up your work out!  Meet local folks, hook up with friends for a work out and compete with yourself.  You heard me, tip extraordinaire is too much competition is just that - too much competition.

One of my tips is compete against yourself and you're always a Winner!  And you don't get caught up in someone else's game.  I find I am happy doing this for me!  Moi!

Join me and others from our community at the SAS Championship 5k !  You can Resister here: Blue Points 5k on site in the morning.  Race begins at 8a for Competitive 5k (competitive meaning you get your timed chip - official time).  I love official time so I can compare all of my races!  Talk about fun!

And we get to run on the lovely and beautiful Prestonwood Country Club Golf Course.  I have my share of golf carts along courses but to run without worry of being hit by a ball, being on the wrong path or just getting out of the way of the carts - this will be a treat.

Who's going?!  How do you keep your exercise routines fresh and exciting?!  Do you like participating in local races?

Warmly, Carolina Mama
