Welcome to an exciting Guest Post by Krista Anne of The Makery NC. She tells you all about this remarkable North Carolina business with her sisters. Just another reason I wanted to support these three, I have three sisters! And this is some awesome Friday Fashion. Welcome Krista Anne and The Sister Team.
The Makery NC |
This year, my sisters and I have found our dream project!
Born and raised in Durham, the three of us came of age in the eighties and nineties - a time of significant growth and change for “The Triangle.” Being blessed with two creative parents, we were brought up amidst much creativity and enthusiasm, and also developed deep ties with and love for our community.
We have gone on to do a lot of different things; in the past few years the sisters have lived in Sweden, Italy, California, Massachusetts, and Illinois! We have worked as nannies, writers, waitresses and tweeters. But after our adventures, we realized some things were missing - our home and our families!
Last Christmas as we gathered together at our parent’s in South Durham, we came up with this idea we became totally excited about. One of the things we love most about our NC community is how talented and passionate our fellow Tar Heels are. We are surrounded by artists and craftspeople devoted to making wonderful, well designed, handmade things. As admirers of those great handmade products, we decided to help connect you with the talented makers living in North Carolina. We’re calling this project The Makery.
The Makery will be an online private sales venue for NC crafts and art – a marriage between e-commerce and shopping local. The basic premise of the business is that each week, 1-3 handmade products will be featured (via email & social media) at a slight discount from what can be found on the artists’ shops or Etsy stores.
We hope that The Makery will become a creatively supportive force in the wider artistic community, and will help to connect makers with shoppers who value the talent and care they put into their handmade items, as well as exposing art-and-craft-lovers to new artists that they didn’t know about.
Check out our blog or email us at sisters@themakerync.com. We’d love to hear from you, and from your sisters!
Viva La North Carolina!

Thank you Krista Anne and The Sister Team for sharing with us. Okay, readers, do you shop handmade and NC? We love to do so as often as possible.
Warmly, Carolina Mama
*When The Makery NC asked to Guest Post, they had me at Homemade and NC. I want to share handmade items and North Carolina companies. Let's support others in our state.
