  2. Self breast exams and mammograms are so important for early detection. My great grandmother died when she was 50 from breast cancer. Of corse they didn't know what we know now. By the time it was found, the cancer had spread all over her body. The only treatment was something called an atomic cocktail given to her by the military. It was liquid radiation. She lived with much pain during her last years, and was often medicated into sleep so she wouldn't be uncomfortable. Had it been found early on, who knows, she might have lived to see her grandchildren grow up, maybe even met her great grandchildren. And so, all the women in my family get mammograms yearly, if nothing more than to show she didn't die in vain.

  4. This past week the "Pink" campaign hit very close to home as one of my daughter's classmates lost his mother to breast cancer. She fought it for the past 3 years....God called her home and she left behind 3 beautiful young children.

  6. My aunt battled breast cancer many years ago, and won. We have since lost her to another type of cancer, and yet her first fight is the one I remember most. I have learned that early detection is extremely important, and can save your life. Self-examinations are so important, even when you feel that you have no clue what you are doing.

Think pink, buy pink, and Race for the Cure when it comes to your area!
