What's Your Color?
What's your color? Very important dicussion here. Hair ladies. What is your color? Do you like to highlight, lowlight? No light. Natural, natural with a little help.
A year ago, this was the Twins and Me at Christmastime. I love it. Of course, I love that pictures say a thousand words and I love the boys expressions in this picture on Christmas Day 2007. And I'll say it I liked the brunette hair, it was fun and might I say lovely.
It was not me. :) So I tried the "other side" as some would say - the dark side for about seven months. I truly embraced the 'new' me. The plan was to embrace the 'lower maintenance" i.e. lower cost. I loved M's work, but the day I left the salon feeling just plain and I was carrying a 'Bar Tab" for $263.00 I knew something had to change.
I'd be me and go back to the 'goldie locks" as I was called of blonde days. It's been a great return. And as the children said when I made the switchback. "Now your hair matches your skin." I'm just sayin' sometimes little six year olds just say it like it is. And that's it, I am blue eyed with fair skin and my fair blonde hair is me. With a little help from my new girl V who does not send me home with a $200+ "bar tab."
Tell me your Hair Color Story or just your Hair story. Go ahead - all of us girls have something to say in this department.

Warmly,
I'm a natural strawberry blond and have never colored my hair. Can't way I never will, cause if this ever fades I will want it back!
ReplyDeleteI am gradually moving from the Pluck The Grey Hair stage to the Must Make A Decision stage. I'm a brunette who has never once, not one single time, colored her hair. Hmm....
ReplyDeleteRight now I am in my winter phase, so my hair has low lights. In a couple of months when I am so tired of this I can't stand it the high lights will come back. You just never know what it will look like. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to dye my hair burgundy way back in college. And for some reason, my roots never showed when it would grow out. Not really sure what that means... I am naturally a brunette with some blond and red highlights (and now with a few gray highlights). My hair looked odd when I used to dye it because then it would be all one color.
ReplyDeleteI'm a dark-headed brunette. Always loved the color until I started getting grays....just had it colored for the first time. I would have fallen over dEAD if that had been my bill. I thought $65 was a lot. Will go hug my stylist now.
ReplyDeleteMy hair is naturally brown. But, I have so many gray hairs now. So, yes, I dye my hair blond. I think I look better with blond hair than brown. I also do it myself, but you can probably tell that from how it looks, lol!
ReplyDeleteI am a brunette. When I DID play with hilights, I wound up WAY blond because I hated any kind of roots. My hair looked BAAAAAAD.
ReplyDeleteI dyed it back brown and haven't touched it since. 5 years ago I guess?
The gray is coming in pretty heavy and it will just have to stay. I am just not a hair person.
Naturally, I have medium-brown hair with some light reddish-brown highlights. Since I started going gray at 15, I have been dying my hair. I believe my hairstylist uses ColorSync WNB.
ReplyDeleteI just went back to dark brown...fairly close to my own hair color and I've got some very subtle blonde highlights on the top...so far I'm loving this, but I have been a blonde for so long now, I wonder how long it will take me to get tired or bored of the brown...even though lots of people have complimented the change....and hubby absolutely loves it!
ReplyDeleteI am a natural brunette and I have never colored my hair. Unfortunately, I am now going pretty grey. It is time to make a decision and do something but I have not idea what to do. Some people say highlights but I am considering getting as close to my natural color as I can. ANy advice would be appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI like your hair in this picture - it looks very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've never dyed my hair, so sorry, no stories here!
Ok, first...I have NO idea what low lights and I have an idea what highlights are.
ReplyDeleteI'm 40 and a brunette. Started getting grey hair about 5 years ago and they just keep coming. I started with some sort of temporary wash in stuff and now get my brunette color done every couple of months.
Said I never would, caved and love it.
I am a brunette. In my younger California days (college) I did highlights. Which basically turned my hair red because I have a ton of auburn in my hair. Between the salt water of the pacific and my highlights my hair was a mess. I had my hair all chopped off right after I tied the knot and cut all that bleached out crud off. My hair was so healthy and pretty and brunette and I decided right then and there that I didn't want to be anyone other than who I really was hair wise. Now I do have to color away the gray and she puts a special color on my hair to keep the auburn from gettin brassy. But I know one thing for sure I would look AWFUL as a blonde! SO fair skinned scotch irish brunette here!
ReplyDeleteTAG YOUR IT! Go see my blog to find out why!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to feel "right" about it all ... I am a red going gray (cinnamon sugar) and I don't have the desire to seek professional help because I don't think anyone can get me my real color, and I don't think I would feel right in anything else. So, I am slowly accepting the grays (can't pluck em anymore there's just too many). And your twins are DARLING!
ReplyDeleteI think that's a really good picture of you all! The boys are so cute! I highlight blonde, my hair color as a child. I found a more reasonable hair dresser too. I've found that you can pay alot, and still not have a good hair style/color. Then I get annoyed! :O)
ReplyDeleteI'm a natural girl. :) I've been every color in the book, but I finally gave up because I hated the upkeep. I suppose with all of the gray hair I'm getting, though, I'll need to something soon. :)
